Cornell EMBA Fundamentals

Maximizing your Resources

EMBA programs are challenged to maximize learning outcomes while minimizing students’ time away from the workplace. Cornell University, through its subsidiary eCornell, has developed a series of financial management courses to assist EMBA programs in meeting this challenge.

Accelerating an MBA program requires that difficult decisions be made about which courses remain in the curriculum and which courses are cut. With Cornell’s Business Fundamentals for EMBAs, you can give your students a head start and have the best of both worlds by allowing your EMBA faculty to concentrate their efforts on higher-level financial concepts rather than spending time on the basics. The courses tailor the learning pace to each student. No longer are instructors forced to move through the material too fast for some students while too slow for others.

By completing our four-course series of online financial management courses, your students will arrive on campus with a common base of financial knowledge - prepared and ready to apply this knowledge to higher level financial concepts. Currently, this online sequence is being successfully implemented as a required prerequisite in a Cornell masters in management program.

Four-course Sequence:

Each course requires between six to eight hours of online learning time over a period of two weeks. The four-course financial management sequence can be completed in as little as eight weeks.

Cornell University is a trusted institution known for its quality offerings. By taking advantage of our proven courses, your program, and your students, will save time and money without jeopardizing quality. The Cornell EMBA Fundamentals Advantage

The Courses in the program are delivered with eCornell’s proven Structured Flexibility™ model, which means that every course is led by a subject-matter expert to ensure comprehension and the student’s ability to apply the material to the real world. The flexibility of the online environment is complemented by the structure imposed by defined start and end dates and the involvement of the instructor.

In addition to your students mastering the course material, our online solution provides the following benefits:

  • Students with diverse backgrounds begin their EMBA program from a common base of financial knowledge
  • Student cohorts develop relationships prior to arriving on campus
  • EMBA faculty members can focus their teaching on higher-level concepts
  • EMBA programs can offer an economical, exciting option to their students
  • EMBA administrators can easily manage the process

Rigor and Relevance

eCornell courses are authored and designed by Cornell faculty members, using the most current and relevant case studies, research, and content. End of course assessments can be used to measure learning outcomes, and to identify students that may need additional resources or coaching.

Our patent-pending approach to problem-based learning means that students are building knowledge and skills using online case studies, interactive exercises, and simulations based on authentic, relevant, and “real-world,” situations.
