CU Digital Copyright Education

Cornell University's IT Policy Office has partnered with eCornell to create an online mini-course on the law and politics of digital copyright. This course was designed for students who have been forwarded DMCA notices for alleged file-sharing activities.

This course explains the history of copyright law, the impact of new technologies, and the developing conflicts over the protection of copyrighted material. It examines the relevant parts of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and explains how Cornell University responds as a matter of policy. Finally, this course considers how Cornell's IT policy contributes to the university's mission of cultivating citizenship in its students.
